ESSENCE OF THE PERFORMANCE ART 2009 BY LYN MATTHEW
Performance Art, a live painting was created by artist Lyn Matthew, April 4, 2009 at the Coconino Art Center in Flagstaff, Arizona. Lyn was given the task of creating a painting titled, “The Last Dance at the End of Time,” based on the prophecy of the end of time sync with the Mayan calendar end of time 2012.
She chose to depict the Mayan Calendar lifting a dancer into space to the rhythm of the last drum beat and the last foot beat of all mankind on earth. Three other artists also created their own paintings on stage. The program of live painting, dance, poetry and music was produced by Jack Delaporte for the opening reception of the Annual Recycle Exhibition at the Coconino Art Center.

Lyn will talk about her dance series of paintings and the new upcoming series of paintings entitled "Dance Visions." She will be giving a painting demonstration on canvas during the last half of the presentation. There will be a question segment follwoing the demonstration. Come and bring a friend.

"Lynscapes: Impressions of the Land" an exhibition of new works will be on display August 1 through August 31.at Mountain Oasis, 11 E Aspen Street in Flagstaff. An artist's reception will be held in the artsit's studio just around the corner at 13 N. San Francisco Street, Suite 3, August 1, 6pm-9pm. You are invited to view small works in the studio.
